Are you a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding part-time role?

A welcoming and supportive First School in Redditch is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join their team from September on a long-term basis until February half-term. This is a part-time position, working three days per week within a Year 3 class, providing general classroom support and working closely with the class teacher to help pupils achieve their full potential.

This role is ideal for a passionate Teaching Assistant who enjoys supporting children during the important Key Stage 2 years. You will play a key role in delivering engaging learning experiences, leading small group interventions, and helping to create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.

The school is looking for someone with previous Primary School experience and good Key Stage 2 knowledge who is confident leading small groups, supervising outdoor play, and building positive relationships with children, staff, and parents. They are hoping to meet suitable candidates ahead of a September start.

As a Year 3 Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging lessons across the Year 3 curriculum.

  • Providing general classroom support to ensure pupils remain engaged and make good progress.

  • Leading small group interventions to reinforce learning in literacy, numeracy, and other curriculum areas.

  • Providing additional support to individual pupils where required.

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting independence within the classroom.

  • Supervising pupils during outdoor play and lunchtime activities, ensuring a safe and positive environment.

  • Supporting pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.

  • Assisting with classroom preparation and the organisation of learning resources.

  • Observing and monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to the class teacher.

  • Helping to create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.

  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

  • Working collaboratively with the wider school team to ensure the best outcomes for all pupils.


To be successful in this Year 3 Teaching Assistant role, you will need:

  • A minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification.

  • Previous experience working within a Primary School.

  • Knowledge and experience of supporting pupils across Key Stage 2.

  • Confidence leading small group interventions and supporting pupils' learning independently.

  • Experience supervising children during outdoor play is desirable.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A patient, caring, and enthusiastic approach.

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • A flexible, reliable, and professional attitude.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to use initiative.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

  • A DBS on the Update Service or issued within the last 12 months.

  • A minimum of two excellent professional references.

This Year 3 Teaching Assistant position is based in Redditch and is easily commutable from Bromsgrove, Studley, Alvechurch, Droitwich Spa, Worcester, and the surrounding areas. The school offers good transport links and on-site parking.
