A welcoming Primary School in Tipton is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their Reception class on a long-term basis from September until the end of the academic year. This full-time role offers an excellent opportunity to become part of a friendly and inclusive school, supporting pupils during a vital stage of their early education.

This Teaching Assistant role is based within a nurturing Reception classroom, where you will work closely with the class teacher to provide general classroom support and help create a positive and engaging learning environment. The role will also involve providing additional support for two children with high SEND needs, ensuring they can access learning and make positive progress alongside their peers.

The school is looking for a warm, reliable, and adaptable Teaching Assistant with previous experience working within an Early Years or Primary School setting. Experience supporting children with SEND and a patient, nurturing approach are essential for this rewarding role.

As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging learning activities

  • Providing general classroom support within the Reception class

  • Supporting two children with high SEND needs to access learning and classroom routines

  • Encouraging children's personal, social, and emotional development

  • Promoting communication, independence, and positive behaviour

  • Supporting children with learning through play and structured activities

  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher and wider school staff

  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment

  • Following school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times


To be successful in this Teaching Assistant role, you will need:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within an Early Years or Primary School setting

  • Experience supporting children with SEND or additional learning needs

  • A relevant Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification is desirable

  • A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach

  • A good understanding of the EYFS framework

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

  • A reliable and professional attitude

  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
