Job Description

Flourish Education are recruiting for a teaching assistant to work in Nursery class on a part-time basis (mornings only) at a one-form entry ‘Good’ school in the West Bromwich area. The school has a welcoming feel and a small but close-knit team who support new staff. This role involves supporting an individual pupil on a 1 to 1 basis, as well as working with small groups as required. This position is only for someone who has worked as a teacher assistant within a UK school.

The role is a part-time position – working 8.45 to 11.45am, Monday to Friday. The candidate would be required to work with a pupil with communication needs and SEMH needs. Due to the nature of the role, commitment to the school and pupil will be essential – helping them to develop routines/relationships.

Job role

  • Working as a teaching assistant in a Nursery class
  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis
  • Liaise with the class teacher, SENCO and other agencies to meet the needs of the pupils.
  • Working between 8.45 to 11.45am, 5 days per week

Required skills and experience

  • A valid Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or Teaching Assistant (Level 2 or 3) qualification.
  • Previous experience working in a Nursery setting.
  • Previous experience working with SEN needs (including communication and/or SEMH)
  • Nurturing and supportive approach to working with young people.
  • A DBS on the update service or issued in the last 12 months.
  • Minimum of 2 excellent references required.

The role is based in the West Bromwich area and is accessible by car and public transport. There is parking on site for teachers and support staff. It is possible to access school from the surrounding areas of Sandwell, Wednesbury, Walsall, Oldbury, Smethwick, Great Barr and North Birmingham.
