A welcoming and supportive two-form entry Primary School in Worcester is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join their team from September on a long-term basis. This is a full-time position, working within a Year 2 class, supporting a child with ADHD.

This role is ideal for a passionate Teaching Assistant who enjoys making a real difference to a child's educational journey during the important early stages of their development. Working closely with the class teacher and SEND team, you will help create a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.

The school is looking for someone with previous school  who can build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents. They are hoping to meet suitable candidates as soon as possible ahead of a September start.

As a Year 2 Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting a child with ADHD on a 1:1 basis, ensuring they can access learning and achieve their full potential.

  • Providing general classroom support to the Class teacher and wider class throughout the school day.

  • Supporting the delivery of engaging and inclusive learning activities.

  • Working with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning.

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting independence.

  • Supporting children's communication, language, literacy, and numeracy development.

  • Assisting with classroom preparation and the organisation of learning resources.

  • Supporting children with their personal, social, and emotional development.

  • Observing and monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to the class teacher.

  • Helping to create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.

  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

  • Supporting children during both indoor and outdoor learning activities.


To be successful in this Year 2 Teaching Assistant role, you will need:

  • A minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification.

  • Previous experience working within a Primary School setting.

  • Experience supporting children with additional needs, including ADHD, is desirable.

  • A good understanding of key stage two-aged children.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A patient, caring, and nurturing approach.

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • A flexible, reliable, and professional attitude.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to use initiative.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
