What Qualifications, Qualities and Experience Do I Need to Work as an SEN Teacher or SEN TA?
To work as an SEN Teacher, you will need:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience working with pupils with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
- A strong understanding of EHCPs, differentiation and behaviour strategies
- A passion for inclusive education
To work as an SEN Teaching Assistant, you may need:
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
- Patience, resilience, empathy and excellent communication skills
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
